U.S. Embassy: Any allegations that US government representatives are trying to foment a revolution in Azerbaijan are absolutely absurd
The U.S. Embassy flatly denied allegations of CIA recruiting workers from youth activists in Azerbaijan to implement a type of color revolution of the Arab Spring.
Such statements were made by the Azerbaijan General Prosecutor's Office investigators interrogating the arrested youth activists of NIDA.
One of the defendants in this case, Ilkin Rustamzade, at the court hearing on Tuesday showed that the investigator claimed that another defendant, Rashad Hasanov, met two colonels of the CIA, who instructed him. The investigator said Rashad is a traitor and he should be exposed, Rustamzade showed.
The defendants categorically denied any connection with U.S. authorities and training color revolution.
At the request of Turan, the press service of the U.S. embassy commented on the accusations this way: "Any allegations that US government representatives are trying to foment a revolution in Azerbaijan are absolutely absurd. Those who propagate such accusations are simply trying to undermine Azerbaijan's relationship with one of its strategic partners." -02B-
