The United States and Britain on Thursday sanctioned additional 11 "key actors" accused of being members of the Russia-based cybercrime group Trickbot, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.

The sanctioned individuals include those involved in management and procurement for Trickbot, which has ties to Russian intelligence services and has targeted the US Government and US companies, including hospitals, the U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement.

According to U.S, officials, the group was also "one of the first" to offer support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, maintaining links and receiving tasking from the Russian Intelligence Services.

Thursday's announcement comes in a line of joint U.K.-U.S. sanctions against Trickbot's ransomware actors in February this year, State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a separate statement.

"The United States will continue to use all available tools to target Russia-based cybercrime and counter the threat posed by ransomware in coordination with national and international partners," Miller noted.

The total number of group members sanctioned is now 18, according to the British government.
