Work is underway to connect Nakhchivan with the rest of Azerbaijan
Baku/10.05.21/Turan: "The forty-kilometer Zangezur corridor separating Zangilan from Nakhchivan is due to open and will be opened. As you know, it was fixed in the joint statement of 10 November", President Ilham Aliyev told Azerbaijani TV during his visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on 10 May.
The Head of State noted that there will be a center.
"I recently visited the railway station of the village of Minchivan, which was destroyed by the Armenians. There is no railway there. The hated enemy destroyed and looted the entire railway infrastructure, " he said.
Aliyev noted that at meetings of the working group at the level of the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia very serious steps are already being taken on this issue.
"I can say with confidence that the railway corridor will be opened. No one should have any doubts about this. Of course, Azerbaijan will fulfill the tasks entrusted to it. As you know, I have laid the foundation of the Goradiz-Agbend railway. The missing 15-16 km section from Ordubad (Nakhchivan) to the Armenian border will be built here. The Nakhchivan railway is in operation and both passenger and freight traffic now takes place. That is, after the construction of the Horadiz-Agbend railway, all the infrastructure will be created in Azerbaijan," the president said.
According to him, there is no such thing as Armenian railways.
"Russian Railways" JSC owns the railways of Armenia. So it owns the railways of Armenia. Therefore, we are mainly discussing this issue with the Russian side. Our next historical achievement will be the connection of Zangilan, which is located in Eastern Zangezur (Azerbaijan - ed.), with our ancient region - Western Zangezur (Armenia - ed.), and then through Ordubad with Nakhchivan and Turkey. I am sure that this will happen, I have no doubts. Once again I would like to say that Azerbaijan will fulfill the tasks entrusted to it and will do everything possible so that there are no problems in the implementation of this project," Aliyev said.-0-
