Yadigar Sadygly , advisor to the head of "Musavat" party, is arrested for two months

Today the Lankaran District Court  charged  Yadigar Sadygly, the advisor of the opposition party "Musavat", and with disorderly conduct,  and arrested  him for a period of  two months, according to  his lawyer, Nemat Karimli.

He said the court's decision as illegal and politically motivated. Kerimli said that no evidence of  his guilt has been submitted.  He was arrested only on  the basis of a complaint  of Rashid Karimov. But there is no evidence against him. On the contrary, two witnesses gave police statements that Karimov insulted Sadygly, and provoked him to a fight. However Sadygly did not answer him.

The lawyer said that the court ruling will be appealed to the Court of Appeal.

The deputy chairman of the party "Musavat", Gulaga Aslanly, also believes that the arrest of Sadygly is  politically motivated.

Yadigar Sadygly was arrested on June 27, as a suspect on the basis of complaint of Lankaran Rashid Karimov, a resident of Lankaran. Karimov alleged that on June 25 Sadygly beat him. Moreover, Karimov’s appeal was reprinted  in media, and on its basis  the Lankaran district police  filed a lawsuit under the Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism committed with weapons or objects used as weapons.) However,  on  June 26 Sadygly, told reporters about provocation against him, and  the arrest against him.–06B—
