“Yeni Azerbaijan” party has announced a list of its candidates for deputies
On Wednesday, the board of the ruling “Yeni Azerbaijan” party announced the list of candidates for deputies from this organization in the early elections to the Milli Majlis on September 1. Most of the 68 deputies of the last convocation from this party are running for parliament again. Among those who dropped out of the previous list: former Speaker of Parliament (2005-2020) Oqtay Asadov; disgraced former head of the Supreme Mejlis of Nakhchivan Vasif Talibov; President of the National Academy of Sciences Isa Habibeyli; Agia Nakhchivanli - heads of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs, as well as a relative of former SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev - Sadagat Velieva.
Also not nominated as candidates for deputy are the editor-in-chief of the Azerbaijan newspaper Bakhtiyar Sadigov and academician Nizami Jafarov.
The list also included former deputies, who subsequently moved to the executive branch. In particular, they are the former head of the State Committee for Work with Religious Structures, Mubariz Gurbanli, and the deputy chairman of this structure, Sayad Arran. Also on the list is Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmedov, who will obviously resign from the government due to his participation in the elections.
Former Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov was also nominated as a candidate for deputy.

On December 17, 2024, the Baku Serious Crimes Court held a preparatory hearing in the case of Abzas Media. However, journalists were not allowed into the courtroom. In response to an inquiry from the Turan news agency, the court stated that there was no space available in the courtroom and suggested that journalists could file complaints with the Judicial Legal Council. However, a group of other individuals, including some relatives of the accused, were allowed into the courtroom.
