Armen Grigoryan
Yerevan does not consider its demand for the withdrawal of troops a condition
Baku/10.02.22/Turan: Armenia has never put forward preconditions for demarcation, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan said at a briefing on Thursday. This is how he responded to official Baku's statement that Armenia puts forward preconditions to start the process of border demarcation.
At the same time, Grigoryan referred to the agreements reached during the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 26 in Sochi.
According to him, the final statement of the parties refers to the need for steps to improve security, and only then delimitation and demarcation. When the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan are against each other, an aggravation is possible. “Armenia proposes to mirror the withdrawal of troops, deploy border troops there, and calmly begin the process of delimitation and demarcation. This cannot be a precondition,” Grigoryan believes.
Thus, official Yerevan once again refuses to start the process of establishing borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia. It is noteworthy that the Armenian side insists on a mirror withdrawal of troops only on part of the border. In particular, on the border of Kalbajar and Gegharkunik. At this point, according to Yerevan, Azerbaijan advanced into the territory of Armenia. However, Yerevan does not talk about the withdrawal of troops on the western border, where Armenia has been occupying 7 villages in the Gazakh and Tovuz regions of Azerbaijan for about 30 years. -02D-
