Yerevan has asked Moscow to mediate in the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations
Baku/23.11.21/Turan: "A number of international partners, including Russia, have stated that they are ready to contribute to the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. We have informed Russia that we are ready to start the process of Armenian-Turkish normalization without preconditions," Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Vahan Hounanian told Radio Liberty.
Since the second Karabakh war in August this year, the Armenian Prime Minister and the Turkish President have made several statements about receiving positive messages from Armenia. In September the Turkish President even said that the Armenian Prime Minister had offered him a meeting through the Georgian Prime Minister; however, Yerevan needed to take steps on the issue of the "Zangezur corridor".
So far, according to the spokesman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry, no direct talks have so far been held between Ankara and Yerevan.
The Armenian Foreign Minister said in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro the other day that Turkey demands to provide a corridor linking Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan to start a dialogue with Armenia.
"This is absolutely out of the question. States should allow transit while maintaining sovereignty over their own territory. All regional communications should be reopened," Mirzoyan stressed. -02D-
