113 kg of Drugs Seized from Drug Couriers
Baku / 17.04.20 / Turan: An Iranian citizen and an Azerbaijani citizen were arrested for smuggling 113 kilograms of drugs and psychotropic substances from Iran to Azerbaijan, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Drug couriers were detained in the Imishli district after they crossed the border river Araz. A resident of Shamkir Etibar Ismayilov and Iranian citizen Ali Shahriyari carried 94 kg in various packages - 673 grams of heroin and 646.401 grams of opium, 950 grams of hashish, 10 kg 100 grams of marijuana, and 7 kg 153 grams of meth.
They also confiscated a pistol with 10 rounds, as well as a night vision device.
The total weight of the drugs seized was 113 kg 523 grams. Their value on the black market is about 10 million manat.
An investigation revealed that these people were carrying drugs on the instructions of an unidentified Iranian citizen. Shahriyari and Ismayilov were supposed to hide drugs on the territory of Azerbaijan in the indicated place in the Imishli region and return back.
A criminal case has been instituted on the fact. Shahriyari and Ismayilov were arrested. -02D-
