34 illegal migrants detected and detained
As part of the struggle against illegal migration in Baku city, operative actions were carried out at different addresses. The Interior Ministry reports that employees of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration identified and detained 34 foreigners without documents giving the right to reside and stay on the territory of Azerbaijan.
Note that 5 of the detainees, in addition to the lack of registration for stay in Azerbaijan, were also engaged in illegal labour activity.
The investigation revealed that these foreigners were provided with a promise to provide illegal transit in exchange for monetary reward, but they were deceived. The detainees were recorded under articles of the Code of Administrative Offences and their cases were delivered to the relevant authorities for action.
A total of 161 illegal migrants have been detected by police officers since the beginning of 2024.
