Advocate Parviz Hashimli Visits the MNB
On Monday, lawyer Anar Gasimly visited Parviz Hashimli at the Ministry of National Security (MNS) jail. Hashimli is an employee of the newspaper "Bizim Yol" and head of the website moderator.az. Commenting to Turan about the meeting, Gasimly said that the journalist was in a normal state, but he expressed concern about conditions of detention. In particular, the light is not turned off in the chamber for 24 hours, and Hashimli is not given the newspapers "Yeni Musavat", "Azadlig” or "Bizim yol."
Parviz Hashimli requested a meeting with the members of his family, and he wants to be transferred to custody in Baku. The lawyer said that no investigation is going on in Hashimli’s case since his arrest.
The journalist considers himself not guilty of all charges against him are considers the charges to be unfounded. At the same time, Hashimli declined to testify against Ali Kerimli. During his arrest, he was asked provocative questions like "if he brings the weapon for Ali Kerimli?"
The lawyer also said that physical pressure was exerted on Hashimli; his knee was broken.
"I cannot reveal the details of the investigation and the charges, since I have given a written undertaking not to disclose the secrets of the investigation," said the lawyer.
Hashimli was arrested on September 17 on charges of smuggling weapons (illegal possession, purchase and possession of firearms - 228.2.1 and 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code.) The
