Afgan Sadigov's mother appealed to Mehriban Aliyeva
Baku/13.01.21/Turan: Hurnisa Sadigova, the mother of the convicted head of the Azel.Tv website, Afgan Sadigov, sent a video message to First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva.
According to the woman, her son was unreasonably arrested and sentenced to 7 years in prison by order of the head of the Sumgayit Executive Power Zakir Faradjev.
In protest, Afghan has been on hunger strike for 70 days, expressing agreement against the unfair sentence. “My son is on the brink of death,” notes H. Sadigova.
As a mother and an elderly person, she asks M. Aliyev to show humanism and mercy, to assist in ensuring a fair trial in the case of her son.
“On January 21, my son's appeal will be considered. I ask for justice for my son, for an end to his unreasonable persecution,” Sadigova said.
* Head of Azel.TV Afgan Sadigov was arrested on charges of extortion through threats in May this year. On November 3, the court sentenced him to seven years in prison. Since November 4, he went on a hunger strike in protest, considering the sentence unfair.
Local human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. —06B03-
