Afiyaddin Mammadov ends his hunger strike
Baku / 08.05.23 / Turan: On August 5, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions under the "Democracy 1918" Movement Afiyaddin Mammadov stopped the hunger strike at the detention center for persons arrested under the administrative procedure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
This was reported to Turan by the head of the Movement "Democracy 1918" Ahmad Mammadli.
According to him, the activist stopped the hunger strike after the urgent requests of his comrades-in-arms, as well as in connection with the satisfaction of one of his demands, and in particular the right to make phone calls from the detention center.
Mammadli also noted that Mammadov's health is normal and he maintains good spirits.

On August 2, the Khatai District Court of Baku imposed a fine of 500 manats on Mammadov, finding him guilty under Art. 528.1 (Failure to comply with the requirements of an executive official in connection with the execution of decisions of judicial and other bodies) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
In addition, on the same day, the Yasamal District Court sentenced Mammadov to 30 days of administrative arrest, finding him guilty under Art. 535.1 (non-subordination to the police) of the Code of Administrative Offences. In protest against the unjustified arrest and deprivation of the right to telephone calls, Mammadov went on a hunger strike.
Mammadov, being the head of the Confederation of Trade Unions under the "Democracy 1918" Movement, actively advocates for the labor rights of couriers and employees in other fields of activity.
