Baku/04.01.20/Turan: Police officers of the Bilasuvar region of Azerbaijan seized a total of about 25 kg of hard drugs from Iranian citizen Sadegh Safii.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Iranian was initially detained on suspicion of drug trafficking and was found with 10 grams of methamphetamine. Further, the Iranian reported on the location of the cache with a large amount of drugs illegally delivered to Azerbaijan. On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
