Azerbaijan celebrates Gurban Bayram
Baku/20.07.21/Turan: The religious holiday of Id al-Adha is celebrated in Azerbaijan on July 20-21. Note that these days are non-working days in the country.
According to the Islamic Hijri calendar, Id al-Adha falls on the last month of Zilhij. This month, the Hajj is performed.
According to Islamic rules, sacrifice is mandatory for pilgrims on the Hajj.
In 2020, no official pilgrimage was organized due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The symbolic Hajj was performed in Saudi Arabia with the participation of a group of citizens from different Muslim countries.
This year, no Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca was performed either.
Today, the festive namaz was held in the mosques of Azerbaijan.
First ever over 30 years, the festive namaz was performed in the mosque of the liberated city of Shusha. –05D06
