Azerbaijan offered Armenia billions of investments in exchange for peaceful de-occupation
Baku/08.12.20/Turan: The October statement of President Ilham Aliyev about the offer of investments to Armenia in exchange for the de-occupation of Azerbaijani territories seems to be confirmed, Aliyev stated in an interview with the Japanese newspaper Nikkei at the height of the fighting in Karabakh. In particular, he said that he had repeatedly sent the former presidents and governments of Armenia about their readiness to implement various socio-economic projects in the Karabakh region in the event of Armenia's voluntary withdrawal from there.
"Today people in Nagorno-Karabakh live in poverty. You know, there is complete unemployment, poverty and infrastructure is destroyed. We were ready to invest," Aliyev told Nikkei.
However, the refusal and intransigence of the Armenian side forced Aliyev to invest in military infrastructure, which led to the achievement of his goal - the liberation of the occupied territories, but with tragic consequences for Armenia.
On Monday, December 7, the Armenian Telegram channel @ bagramyan26 released a recording of the conversation between the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko about Nagorno-Karabakh. In the course of the conversation, Lukashenka claims that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev offered Sargsyan 5 billion for 7 regions of Karabakh. Lukashenka, in particular, notes, "Give him the regions (of Karabakh), he (Aliyev) will pay, he offered you 5 billion at the first stage." In response, Serzh Sargsyan declares, “I give him 6 billion. Let him give up seven districts."
According to news.am, after the release of this recording, Sargsyan's office received numerous inquiries from the media who want to find out whether the discussion contained in the audio recording is true, when it took place, where and why the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has not yet talked about it. In this regard, the office circulated a statement in which it was noted: “It is not clear how the recording of the non-public conversation of the presidents during the meeting in a restricted format at the October 14, 2016 meeting in Yerevan session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was on the Internet.
The office of the third President of the Republic of Armenia accepts the publication of the audio recording as a fact and refrains from commenting, taking into account the fact that the meetings held in a closed format are not subject to comment, as they were not subject to until now.
What comments can there be? This was stated at the Embassy of Belarus in Armenia when Tert.am asked to comment on the audio recording distributed yesterday.
“A completely understandable conversation took place between the two countries that are trying to resolve the conflict. Therefore, please contact your Armenian colleagues for comments,” stated the Belarusian Embassy in Armenia. -0—
