Baku/26.04.23/Turan: Negotiations with reputable satellite manufacturing companies to launch a new Azerbaijani satellite into orbit are ongoing,  the "Azercosmos" space Agency told Turan.

The institution noted that negotiations will continue until the most suitable choice for Azerbaijan is made. "A thorough study is required before the process of developing and commissioning a new satellite. The customer has such requirements as price, after-sales support, innovations," the department noted. Before launching the satellite into orbit, the economic and non-economic benefits that Azerbaijan can get from the new project are being studied.

"Azerkosmos" recalled that two Azerbaijani telecommunications satellites, "Azerspace-1" and "Azerspace-2", are currently operating in orbit.

Over 10 years since the start of commercial activity, "Azercosmos" has earned 500 million manats on the services of our satellites "Azercpase -1", "Azercpase -2" and "Azersky."

Recall that "Azersky" recently went out of service, in the 9th year of its operation. The probable cause was a collision with space debris or a meteorite.

The "Azersky" satellite is insured for the amount of 45 million manats and work has begun on obtaining the sum insured. Since the beginning of the commercial activity of this satellite, it has earned 105 million manats. In addition, satellite images worth 150 million manats were transferred to various state bodies and institutions. Thus, the economic effect received from the satellite was 1.5 times higher than the invested funds.

Azerspace-1-2 were produced by the American companies Orbital Sciences Corporation (OSC) and Space Systems Loral (SSL), and Azersaky - by the French company Airbus S.A.S.

The satellites were launched into orbit from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana by means of the Ariane launch vehicle of the French company Arianespace.---0---
