Azersu OJSC: Mass Poisoning of Children in Sumgait Not Connected with Drinking Water
Baku / 11.06.17 / Turan: Mass poisoning of children in Sumgait was not connected with drinking water, the water distribution company Azersu stated.
The poisoning in the city of Sumgait and the village of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev did not come from drinking water, the public relations department of Azersu Open Joint-Stock Company said.
Specialists of JSC Azersu and employees of the Central Laboratory immediately conducted an inspection of the territory, samples of water were taken from the source, the main pipeline and the network. A preliminary physical and chemical analysis was carried out on site, no changes in water quality were recorded, and no cases of harm to human health were identified. Taken on June 10, the final bacteriological results of these samples once again confirm that the water quality indicators fully comply with the standards.
In the following days, employees of JSC Azersu and the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health also conducted on-site monitoring, took water samples and sent them for analysis in the laboratories of both structures. "The public will be informed about the results of the analysis," the report said.
Provision of water to the village of Taghiyev and the surrounding settlements is carried out by the water installations of Shollar-Baku and the Jeyranbatan complex of water treatment plants. Water samples taken from these sources, the main pipeline and the network, according to the addresses and schedules agreed with the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center, are checked daily, and both structures provide control.
The Shollar and Jeyranbatan sources, along with the city of Sumgait, also provide drinking water to other settlements of the Absheron peninsula, and in these places such cases have not been recorded.
JSC Azersu once again states that the case registered in the city of Sumgait and the settlement of Taghiyev is not connected with drinking water, and there are no grounds for concern of the citizens.
This week Sumgait hospitals received 119 young children with complaints of diarrhea and vomiting. Most of them, after receiving primary medical care, were released home. Danger to life and health of the others was not registered either. -06D-
