Baku/13.02.23/Turan: "The condition of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev is very serious," lawyer Agyl Laij told Turan on Monday after meeting with the activist in Medical institution of the penitentiary service. Hajiyev's weight dropped to 68.3 kg, his pulse was 68 beats per minute, and his blood pressure remains stably low, he said. “The doctors tried to forcibly put him on a drip, but he resolutely refused. Bakhtiyar said that before losing consciousness, no one has the right to intervene in his body,” Laij said.
On Sunday, representatives of the ombudsman's office, including a doctor and a psychologist visited Hajiyev. Hajiyev told them that he would not stop his hunger strike until he was released. The defense filed a new petition to transfer Hajiyev to house arrest.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days. On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him and continues to this day.
On January 21, the court extended Hajiyev's arrest for another 1 month. ---B06---

Today, on September 26, a meeting is expected in New York between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding peace negotiations. The meeting is set to take place with the participation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
