Bakhtiyar Hajiyev's health worsened even more - lawyer
Baku/30.01.23/Turan: The health of public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, who has been on a hunger strike for 22 days in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, continues to deteriorate, a lawyer Zibeyda Sadigova, who visited the activist in the pre-trial detention center on January 30 reported.
According to her, Hajiyev continues to lose everything and today he already weighs 71 kg, while before his arrest he weighed 84.5 kg.
“His stomach pains got worse. The doctor of pre-trial detention center-1 said that if he continued like this, he would suffer from a stomach ulcer.
In addition, dizziness has become more frequent, blood pressure continues to fall, which affects the brain and can cause irreversible disturbances in its functioning,” the lawyer said.
A blood test taken earlier showed that Bakhtiyar has a significant drop below normal in magnesium, calcium and sugar.
“Despite requests to end the hunger strike, he intends to continue it until he is released,” Sadigova said.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days. On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him and continues to this day.
On January 21, the court extended Hajiyev's arrest for another 1 month. ---21B06
