Baku/31.08.21/Turan: Niyameddin Aslanzade, the brother of Polad Aslanov, the editor of the website xeberman.com, who is serving a prison sentence, was released after a 5-day administrative arrest.

In an interview with Turan, he said that he was arrested on a complaint from the Azerbaijani Ombudsman's office for allegedly insulting his representatives.

At the same time, the complaint did not indicate the date when the incident occurred, nor did it say what the insult was.

Aslanzade noted that a few months ago, when his brother was on a hunger strike, he called the ombudsman's office and was indignant that they were not interested in the health of Polad Aslanov.

A few days before his arrest, he was summoned to the 18th police station, and they took an explanatory note, saying that there were no questions for him.

Nevertheless, on August 26 he was summoned to the police, and from there he was taken to court and arrested for five days.

Niyameddin Aslanzade believes that he was arrested completely unreasonably and intends to appeal.

* Polad Aslanov was sentenced on November 16, 2019 to 16 years in prison on charges of treason in favor of Iran.

Reporters Without Borders and other human rights organizations called on the Azerbaijani authorities to release Polad Aslanov. -06B-
