Baku/01.12.23/Turan: On December 1, a one-year-old child died of measles in Sabirabad region (168 kilometers southwest of Baku). As Turan was informed by the Union for the Management of Medical Territorial Formations (TABIB), a child born in 2022 was admitted to the emergency department of Sabirabad region central hospital on November 30.
"He was diagnosed with an acute form of measles, neurotoxicosis, encephalitis, acute respiratory failure, cardiovascular insufficiency (grade III). Despite the efforts of doctors, he died," TABIB said in a statement, which called on citizens to get vaccinated.
In turn, the Baku Education Department reported that the distance learning has been introduced for 14 days in the elementary grades of secondary school No. 195 due to measles.
According to the Ministry of Health, cases of measles importation from neighboring countries have been recorded since April 2023. "Infection is mainly observed among children. Over the past period, 284 cases of measles infection have been registered in the country. Only 12% (35 people) these are elderly people.
"Epidemiological analysis shows that the main cause of infection is evasion of vaccination. 95% of those infected are children who have not received vaccinations according to the schedule of preventive vaccinations," the Ministry of Health said. -0-
