Closed trial in the case of the employee of the Caucasian Muslims department (CMD) continues
Trial in the case of Elshan Mustafaoglu,the former chief of the Caucasian Muslims Department, continued today in the Baku Serious Crimes Court. Due to the fact that he was accused of treason, the process takes place behind closed doors. "I believe that my client is accused on trumped up charges. In fact there is no evidence. We hope that the court will make a fair decision," said the lawyer Afgan Mammadov. The next court hearing is scheduled for 9 August. Musaoglu was arrested in 2014, and is accused under Article 274 (treason.) Musaoglu is a renowned theologian.
