Convicts Can Be Given Opportunity to Video Communication with Loved Ones
Baku/09.03.21/Turan: The report for 2020 of the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva was submitted to the Milli Mejlis and other state bodies.
On March 10, the document will be discussed at a meeting of the parliamentary committee for human rights, the ombudsman's office said.
Alieva proposed in the report to amend the Code on the Execution of Sentences, and in particular, to provide convicts with the right to video calls to their loved ones.
This would make it possible to facilitate contacts of convicts with family members, other relatives, save transportation costs, and reduce the cases of bringing in prohibited items.
The practice of video communication between prisoners and their relatives exists in a number of foreign countries and is considered an effective method.
The Ombudsman's annual report is also sent to the Cabinet of Ministers, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court and the General Prosecutor's Office. –22D06-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
