Court of Appeal Keeps Afghan Sadigli under Arrest
Baku / 30.11.18 / Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal today considered an appeal against administrative arrest for a period of 30 days of the founder and chief editor of the Azel.tv website, Afghan Sadigli.
He was arrested on November 27 in front of the presidential administration building during a protest rally of representatives of the martyr families. According to the police, he was noisy, disturbed the order, and disobeyed the police.
During today's trial, the defense petitioned for the video records from surveillance cameras around the Presidential Administration and for interrogation of witnesses - journalists who filmed the protest and witnessed the arrest. However, the judge rejected the petition.
Sadigli himself called am lie the report written in the police and the decisions of the Sabail Court, noting that he was suddenly detained by people in civilian clothes and forced into a car.
First, he was taken to the Sabail district police department, a report was drawn up, and then he was taken to court. He asked the appellate court to cancel the decision on his arrest. However, the judge upheld the verdict of the court of first instance.
Sadigli said the European Court already has three of his complaints in previous cases, and now he will send a fourth one. -06D--
