Criminalaz.com editor denies the charges
Baku / 11.01.19 / Turan: Today in the Baku Serious Crimes Court of Grave Crimes a preparatory meeting was held in the case of the Criminalaz.com site editor Anar Mamedov.
He was brought to justice in connection with the publications about the events in Ganja and the energy blackout at the Mingachevir CHP.
At today's trial the indictment was announced.
Mamedov himself rejected the accusations, stating that he was arrested under a bureaucratic order, and in his publications there is nothing against the rule of law. Mamedov asked the court to acquit him.
The next court hearing is scheduled for January 22.
On July 9, the Prosecutor General"s Office filed a lawsuit on the dissemination to the Internet of "false information" and "illegal appeals" in connection with the attempt on the life of Ganja Elmar Veliyev and the energy blackout in Mingachevir last summer.
After that, the prosecutor's office appealed to the Ministry of Communications to block the sites "Bastainfo.com", "criminalaz.com", "topxeber.az" and "fia.az".
On November 30, Mamedov was charged under the Articles of the Criminal Code: 281.2 (appeals against the state), 309.2 (abuse of power) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code.
Similar accusations were also made against Bastafofo"s editor Mustafa Hajibeyli. -05B06-
