Расим Мамедов
Director of "Baku Steel Company" detained
Baku/29.01.21/Turan: Lawyers cannot meet with the director of the Baku Steel Company, Rasim Mammadov, who was detained on January 28, Turan was told by lawyer Elchin Sadigov.
According to him, on January 29, he and his colleague Bakhtiyar Hajiyev for several hours have been vainly seeking permission to meet with Mammadov.
“We came to the meeting at the State Security Service with a warrant in hand, but they did not let us in illegally, claiming that the leadership must give permission. There is also no answer to our telegram to the SGB leadership,” Sadigov said.
Media reports that Rasim Mammadov was Ramiz Mehdiyev's (former head of the presidential administration) "black box office" are untrue, the lawyer said, adding that Rasim Mammadov had been arrested based on false statements.
According to Mammadov's relatives, he is charged under the Articles of the Criminal Code: 178.4 (large-scale fraud), 179.4 (large-scale embezzlement and waste) and 308.2 (abuse of office resulting in grave consequences). It is not yet clear whether a preventive measure has been chosen against him. It was not possible to obtain comments from the State Security Service.
Last year, it was reported that an investigation into the "machinations" at the Baku Steel Company had begun. –06D-
