Baku/13.10.23/Turan: The working Group of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking has published the results of its work for January-September 2023.
During this period, 8320 criminal facts were discovered. Of these, 2,855 were connected with the illegal sale of narcotic drugs, 5,151 - with the illegal acquisition and possession of drugs, 284 - with the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants and 30 - with other crimes of this category. According to the established facts, 6,207 kg of narcotic drugs were seized from illegal trafficking.
Of these, 1,840 kg of heroin, 3,566 kg of marijuana, 248 kg of opium, 51 kg of hashish, 363 kg of psychotropic substances and 136 kg of other narcotic drugs. Also during the specified period, 48,321 methadone tablets, 15,102 cannabis plants, as well as about 24,000 tablets of other potent substances and precursors were seized from illicit trafficking.
During the reporting period, with the organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Border Service, 932,781 wild narcotic plants with a total weight of 299 tons 377 kg were seized on an area of 416,494 hectares. and destroyed.
The total cost of 6,207 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances seized from illicit trafficking in January-September of this year is estimated at 252 million 353 thousand manats.
6483 people were brought to criminal responsibility for drug trafficking. Of these, 6,329 are men and 154 are women. 64 persons brought to criminal responsibility are citizens of foreign states.
In total, 241 of the solved crimes were committed by the group. Previously convicted persons committed 2,453 criminal acts. --0--
