Drug courier detained in Astara
Baku/22.02.22/Turan: On February 21, night the border guards detained a drug courier in Astara region (bordering Iran). The courier wounded two border guards in a shoot-out.
According to the press service of the State Border Service, the incident took place near the village of Shahagachy. The border guards tried to detain a suspicious man who took a large bag from bushes and tried to escape. On demanding him to stop, he opened fire with a traumatic gun. As a result, two border patrol officers were wounded. Nevertheless, the trespasser was detained and it was local resident Gurban Agayev (1978).
The bag seized from him contained 17 kg of various drugs: marijuana, heroin, opium and methamphetamine. During the search of the detainee's house more than 1 kg of marijuana was found. -02D-
