Eldar Hasanov underwent surgery at the hospital
Baku/13.07.21/Turan: The former Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia and ex-Prosecutor General Eldar Hasanov, currently imprisoned, is in the hospital of the State Security Service. The day before, he was operated due to intestinal obstruction, his condition is stable, Hasanov's relatives told Turan.
It ought to be noted that on May 7, the European Court of Human Rights with due regard for the appeal of lawyers and within the framework of interim measures, decided to hospitalize Hasanov.
However, this decision was not executed and the defense appealed afain to the Strasbourg court which on June 23 categorically demanded that Hasanov be examined in hospital conditions. Finally on July 2, Hasanov was placed at the SSS hospital.
Earlier, lawyer Javad Javadov expressed his hope that in view of Hasanov's serious illness, the interim measure would be changed.
It should be reminded that Eldar Hasanov was detained on August 13, 2020 by State Security Service officers, and the next day the court arrested him on abuse and misuse of budget fund charges.
Added to this can be that Eldar Hasanov served as the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Romania in 2001-2020, and then to Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia.
