Family of National Hero Natig Gasimov Provided with Apartment
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population has provided Dursun Gasimova, the mother of national hero-martyr Natig Gasimov, with a two-room apartment in the MIDA residential complex in Ganja. The apartment, which comes with complete renovations, is part of a state program aimed at supporting families of martyrs and people with war-related disabilities.
Expressing her gratitude, Dursun Gasimova thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the care and support extended to her family through the provision of new housing.
On June 25, 2024, President Ilham Aliyev awarded Natig Gasimov the posthumous title of "National Hero of Azerbaijan" for his extraordinary bravery in defending the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Gasimov's heroism was particularly noted during the First Karabakh War.
In 1992, Gasimov and his squad faced an overwhelming enemy force. After his squad members perished in battle, Gasimov continued to fight for five days from a church in the village of Pirler (Khramort). He ultimately surrendered when the Armenians threatened to execute captured residents of Khojaly. Following his capture, Gasimov was tortured and killed.
Following the 44-day Patriotic War, the housing program for the families of martyrs, initiated by the head of state, was expanded fivefold. In the post-war period, 6,072 apartments and private houses have been allocated, with a total of nearly 15,000 provided to date.
After his capture, Gasimov was tortured and killed.
