FC Garabagh Wins Landslide Victory, Advances to Group Stage of Europa League
Baku / 02.10.20 / Turan: Against the background of news about the successful advancement of units of the Azerbaijani army to liberate the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and seven regions around it, the Azerbaijani football club Garabagh, in turn, delighted the nation with a beautiful victory in Warsaw.
Playing at the playoff stage of the Europa League against the Polish club Legia, the champions of Azerbaijan, having won with a score of 3: 0, advanced to the group stage of the Europa League.
From the very first minutes, the players of FC Garabagh who actively started the game created dangerous moments at the goal of the home team. However, the champions of Azerbaijan, striking mainly directly at the goalkeeper of their rivals Artur Boruts, failed to open an account in the first half.
The victory came in the second half. At the beginning of the second half of the game, or rather in the 50th minute, Owusu Kvabena made a great pass on the left flank of the opponents and shot into the penalty area, where Patrick Andrade closed his pass. For him, by the way, this goal was the first in the composition of FC Garabagh.
At the 62nd minute, Abdullah Zubir said his word. Thanks to individual actions, he came out from the left side face to face with the Legia goalkeeper and sent the ball into the goal between his legs.
Croat Ozobich put an end to the game; he received a pass from Patrick Andrade not far from the goalkeeper's area and sent it to the left corner of the goalkeeper.
It should be especially emphasized that in the match against Legia, the players of FC Garabagh showed one of their best games in recent years and it is difficult to single out any player separately. The champions of Azerbaijan demonstrated a real team game in which everyone clearly knew their role and spared no effort for a common victory. And there was no need to come up with additional motivation for them. All the eyes of the Azerbaijani people, who are eagerly awaiting victorious news from the battlefields in Garabagh, were directed today to Warsaw, where FC Garabagh had no right to lose. This situation was both an additional motivation for the players and a huge moral pressure. But the footballers of FC Garabagh coped with the task facing it with honor and will play in the group stage of European cups for the seventh time in a row. It should be reminded that before that, FC Garabagh played five times in the group stage of the Europa League, and once in the Champions League.
Note that today Armenia was also expecting good news from the football fields. Yerevan FC Ararat played at the playoff stage with Serbian Crvena Zvezda. However, in addition to the disappointing news for Armenians from the Karabakh front, the Serbs also disappointed them, winning 2-1. –71D-
