Feminists Protest Domestic Violence
Baku/04.02.21/Turan: On Thursday, February 4, a group of feminists tried to hold a protest in Baku on Azadlig Square in front of the Government House. They unfurled a banner with the slogan "Killing women is a political crime."
The participants of the action wanted to draw attention to the murder of women on the basis of domestic violence. The place of the action was chosen because the State Committee for Family, Women and Children, as well as the office of the Ombudsman are located in the Government House.
The protesters regard the killings of women to be political, since the state bodies do not take action. The staff who arrived at the scene took away the banner from the participants. However, no one was arrested.-06D-
