A lawyer Fuad Agayev today visited in Sheki jail Ilgar Mamedov, the leader of REAL Movement. The visit was connected with the fact that two prisoners were placed to Mamedov’s ward on June 1. Moreover, they both are smokers, including while Mamedov did not smoke. Today it became clear that three more smokers were placed to Mamedov , and now there are five smokers.
According to Agayev, he had a conversation with the leadership of jail and he promised that steps will be taken to address the problem .
On March 17 Ilgar Mamedov was sentenced to seven years in prison in connection with Ismayilly events. On May 22 the European Court of Human Rights found a violation of the rights Mamedov. Previously, Amnesty International recognized Mamedov as “prisoner of conscience.” -06B06--
