Four PFPA Activists Arrested
Baku / 04.04.19 / Turan: Four activists of the Popular Front Party were arrested on March 30 and 31. The PFPA believes that the arrests were related to an opposition rally appointed by the opposition on April 6.
According to PFPA Deputy Chairman Gezal Bayramli, the organizers of the rally, Pasha Umudov, Ramid Nagiyev, Yalchin Abdullayev and Nijat Nizamov, were arrested.
All of them are charged under Article 535.1 (not subordinating to the police) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
Umudov was arrested by Khatai District Court for 15 days. The Binagadi District Court sentenced Nagiyev to 30 days in jail, and Abdullayev to 15 days. The Surakhani District Court appointed Nizamov an arrest for a period of 15 days.
According to Bayramli, the arrests began after the PFPA appealed to hold a rally, but after the authorities decided not to authorize the rally, the arrests stopped.
Recall that since the beginning of the year, more than 50 PFPA activists have been arrested administratively. Arrests were carried out, as a rule, on the eve of opposition protests. More than 20 activists were fined. -03B06
