Head of District Sues Journalist
Baku/16.03.21/Turan: The head of the Executive Power of the Guba region (168 km north of Baku) filed a lawsuit as a private criminal charge against the independent journalist Jamil Mammadli.
The case will be considered by the judge of the Khachmaz region, Anar Sadigov.
A message about this was published on the electronic court portal.
The head of the district asks the court to bring the journalist to justice under Art. 147-2 (defamation of a serious crime) of the Criminal Code.
However, Mammadli himself told Turan that he had not yet received a notification from the court.
He admitted that he published a video investigation about the head of the Guba region.
“In fact, it’s not me who should be tried, but the prosecutor’s office should investigate the facts stated on my YouTube channel and Facebook account.
Jamil Mammadli is known as a freelance journalist covering the northern region of the country. For a long time he was a regional correspondent for Radio Azadlig (Azerbaijan service of Radio Liberty). — 03B06-
