Health problems of a convicted elderly man
Baku/23.11.18/Turan: The health of the convicted satirist Tofik Hasanli has deteriorated, his family members say. The satirist told about sharp pains in the heart and kidney area in a telephone conversation with relatives from colony number 6, where he was kept. According to lawyer Elchin Sadigov, having received information from his relatives, he drafted a complaint requesting that a satirist be placed on the hospital treatment. However, the Prison Service has not yet responded to this appeal.
Tofig Hasanli was sentenced to 6 years in August 2016 on charges of drug trafficking. However, the real reason for his persecution was his satirical poems to the authorities, with whom he spoke in social networks. In 2005, he was also convicted under the Article on drugs for three years and amnestied two years later. -05B-
