Baku/10.04.21/Turan: In recent weeks, the daily increase in coronavirus infected in Azerbaijan has exceeded 2 thousand cases. According to the latest statistics from the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers, the number of active patients in the country reaches 30,082.
How do experts assess the situation? Is there a need for additional measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection? According to Malahat Ibrahimgizi, member of the Milli Majlis Health Committee, the third wave of coronavirus infection is observed in Azerbaijan.
In her opinion, now people are showing more efforts to protect themselves from the virus, wearing masks, trying to maintain social distance. However, it is difficult to completely control the process, not everyone has yet been able to learn how to live in a pandemic.
The MP believes that people must be vaccinated.
This allows, at least, creating immunity in the human body. She also pointed to the mutation of the virus and the emergence of new strains, which makes it difficult to develop a roadmap for measures to combat it. Today, the way out of the situation complies with sanitary and hygienic standards and vaccination.
The parliamentarian believes that the World Health Organization should adopt uniform rules.
“However, the work of the organization is insufficient. For example, in some European countries it is not necessary to wear masks outdoors. In other countries, including Azerbaijan, this is mandatory.
Therefore, the World Health Organization must determine whether wearing masks outdoors is effective or not? Should schools have to work as usual, or should they teach online? And in conditions when each country has its own rules, people find themselves in confusion,” Ibrahimgizi said.
Doctor of Medical Sciences Adil Geybulla pointed out the deterioration of the epidemiological situation. If it goes on like this, then there will be a need for additional measures, he said. On the other hand, a situation is developing in the country that causes bewilderment.
“On the one hand, in closed rooms, restaurants, cafes and other public catering facilities, people sit for hours without masks and this is allowed. On the other hand, wearing masks outdoors is compulsory. These issues must be regulated, quarantine rules must be revised,” Geybulla said.
According to him, in Azerbaijan, the number of cases of infection and deaths from coronavirus in relation to the population is higher compared to other countries.
One of the measures to prevent the growth of new infections and bring the epidemiological situation under control should be mass testing.
Those wishing to be tested should not be subject to any restrictions.
Regardless of the presence of an elevated temperature, all those who come to the ambulance stations, hospitals, polyclinics must undergo tests.
If the results turn out to be positive, then it is necessary to take tests from persons with whom the infected person was in contact.
Children should be tested in children's clinics.
It is also necessary to create vaccination points in medical institutions of various forms of ownership, large enterprises and supermarkets. In addition, it is necessary to put an end to the use of antibiotics and antiviral drugs by infected people, and to strengthen enlightenment work among the population, summed up Professor Adil Geybulla. –21D06-
