Human rights activist demands to transfer Saleh Rustamov to the jail of the Ministry of Justice
Baku / 25.05.18 / Turan: Human rights defender Ogtay Gulaliyev called on the Ministry of Justice to provide transfer of Saleh Rustamov, who has been detained for 18 days in the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the Prison of the Penitentiary Service.
Gulaliyev noted that after the court decision on the arrest, a person must be transferred to the remand center within 72 hours. However, in violation of the law, both arrested are under the supervision of the investigative body for more than half a month. Therefore, they must immediately be transferred to the detention center of the penitentiary service of the Ministry of Justice.
"Keeping the arrested person at the Ministry of Internal Affairs proves that he is being beaten by testimony. Perhaps, they demand that the opposition's funding be recognized. Rustamov is a Russian citizen and lives in Russia," Gulaliyev added. Saleh Rustamov's meeting with his brother was held in the presence of the investigator, it is natural that the detainee could not report everything that happened to him. The "Bandotdel" (General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime) is known as a place of torture for prisoners," the activist said. "We are concerned about the health of Rustamov, and by arresting him the authorities are trying to fabricate a case on funding the opposition from the abroad," Gulaliyev said. 06-
