Human rights activist discusses the cases of deported activists at the German Foreign Ministry
Baku/07.09.22/Turan: On September 6, Zaur Akper, co-founder of the human rights organization "Line of Defense", held a meeting at the German Foreign Ministry with Benedikt Goebel, the head of the office for the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The situation with human rights in Azerbaijan, the new media law, the state of civil society, and the arrests of Azerbaijani activists expelled from Germany were discussed at the meeting, Zaur Akper said.
Akper drew attention to the fact that since October 2021, at least eight activists deported from Germany have been arrested in Azerbaijan on trumped-up charges.
Representatives of the German Foreign Ministry, sharing the concern of the human rights activist, noted that they sent their proposals to the regional authorities of the country.
The Foreign Ministry also indicated that they are aware of the human rights situation, receiving information from the media, human rights activists and the German Embassy.
Negotiations are also underway with the government of Azerbaijan, but the diplomats did not disclose their content. The human rights activist called on the German authorities to stop the deportation of Azerbaijani activists. --03В06--
