Baku/17.05.23/Turan: In the village of Gorgan, Shabran region, several people were taken under surveillance by state authorities on suspicion of rabies, the representative office of the executive authority of the Shabran region in the village of Gorgan told Turan. The representative office noted that the village has already been checked by state authorities.
25 days ago, predatory animals attacked sheep on a farm belonging to one of the villagers. After that, the wounded animals were slaughtered, and the farmer gave their meat to his dogs on the farm.
A few days later, several sheep fell ill and this resident also slaughtered them and treated relatives. After the rest of the animals died, the owner of the sheep turned to the state agencies.
A representative of the village administration said that the tests taken from the fallen sheep confirmed that the animals were infected with rabies. "The sheep remaining on the farm were slaughtered, burned and buried," he said.
In turn, the Turan news agency was informed in TəBiB that on May 16, 9 residents (4 women and four children) of the village of Gorgan in the Shabran region turned to the regional hospital with suspected rabies. "Each of them was vaccinated against rabies and released home," the department noted.
The Food Safety Agency told Turan that the incident was taken under strict control. "Regarding the causes of the incident, the Agency's specialists and employees of other relevant institutions have launched investigations.
