Investigation of Accident Stalled
Baku / 07/31/17 / Turan: There are themes and problems, which have to come back again and again. After all, the problem is not solved, and often these are problems in which human life is at stake.
Turan already wrote about the accident that occurred on June 28 in the village of Deller in the Saatly district. As a result of the accident, the passenger of a taxi Ilkin Mirzaagazadeh fell into a coma, from which, despite the efforts of doctors, he has not come out to this day.
We decided to turn back to this topic because of an incomprehensible point of the story. The victim's father Lazym Umudov again applied to the editor and said that, despite the fact that almost a month has passed since the accident, no one is interested in his son or the accident and the investigation is trying to stall the case.
The fact is that the driver, who, according to Umudov, was guilty of the accident, driving at a speed of 150 km / h, has not yet been brought to justice. The treatment of a patient in a coma is worth a lot of money, the necessary drugs are not on the list of free medicines, and the poor family has a hard time. However, none of the parties involved in the accident wants to help, although, most likely, they realize their responsibility.
The victim"s family, hoping to restore justice, has applied to all instances. However, it was to no avail. In addition, no investigative steps are being taken. The victim"s father was only called several times by the investigator of the district police department Khayal Abbasov, who only inquired about the victim"s health. When asked for justice against the guilty, he answered: "What if the guilty one is your son?" Mr. Umudov, recovering from the staggering question, only said, "My son was a passenger, so how could he be guilty of the accident?" It was this question that made him think that for some reason the investigation was trying to hush up the matter. After that Umudov called the "hot line" of the Ministry of Interior three times with a complaint about the inaction of the investigation. However, this was to no avail either. In despair, he applied to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov, but so far it is still there. There is no progress in the matter.
Correspondents of Turan repeatedly tried to contact the investigator, but without success: he does not answer phone calls, and his mobile phone is often disconnected. We hope he will become available to the press after reading this article. -0-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
