Is telling the truth a sin? the bloggers father
Baku/28.12.18/Turan:RafiqHuseynov, is concerned for the fate of his sonMehmanHuseynov because of the new charge against him two months before Mehman"s release from prison. The Prison Service accused him of beating a prison officer and illegal possession of 461 manat. The blogger was put in a punishment cell.M. Huseynov rejected the allegations of the Prison Service and, in protest against the slander against him, as well as the non-admission of lawyers to him, declared an indefinite hunger strike. The blogger"s father believes that the allegations that his son beat a jail employee are unfounded."Mehman behaves well in the jail, there were complaints about him," said R. Huseynov. As for the detection of money with him, R. Huseynov:
"When his mother was alive, she cooked food and took it to Mehman. Now I am alone. I can't cook for my son. I bring him 2-3loafs of breads. But the bread quickly becomesstale. The water in the jail is also muddy. Therefore, every time I give my son 20-30 manats so that he can buy food and water in a prison shop. What's wrong with that? Is it a sin if a prisoner has some money?" said R. Huseynov. He intends to appeal to the president and bring to his attention the unreasonable persecution of his son.
"As a father, I expected my son to be released in a month. What did he do such that he was unreasonably charged? Who is his enemy? He is the son of the people. Is speaking the truth in this country a sin? Why should he stay behind bars? Why should they torment him there? They say he said something wrong. Should he keep silence all his life?" continued R. Huseynov.
The head of the public relations department of the Prison Service, MehmanSadigov, stated that the criminal case was initiated on the basis of real facts. He denied not admitting to a blogger of lawyers. As for the hunger strike, Sadigov said that he has no information on this. However, the convict has the right to a hunger strike. As for the placing the blogger into the punishment cell, Sadigov said that this was the responsibility of the head of the jail.MehmanHuseynov was arrested in March 2017 and sentenced to 2 years in prison under a libel suit filed by the head of the Nasimi police. On the eve he was charged with a new charge of beating a jail employee.Human rights activists are convinced that Huseynov is being persecuted for exposing corruption among high-ranking officials, as well as criticizing the authorities. -06D--
