Lawyer: Arrested Member of PFPA Pressured
The Popular Front activist Fuad Ahmadli contained in Baku Detention Center No1 has serious health problems and is deprived of the right to make telephone calls and meetings with relatives. Turan was told by the attorney Asabali Mustafayev.
Ahmadli told the guards about his health problems several times, but they did not let the doctors to him and he is deprived of health care.
After detention on August 18 Ahmadli never talked on the phone with his family and did not get a meeting with them. The lawyer considers this as a violation of his civil rights.
Mustafayev has already filed a petition with the investigating authority to lift these illegal restrictions. If there is no result, he will file a judicial complaint.
The lawyer considers Ahmadli is not provided medical aid and meetings with relatives as a kind of psychological pressure.
Recall that on August 19 the State Security Service and Prosecutor General's Office issued a joint statement in connection with Ahmadli’s case. The press release reported that Ahmadli is charged with dissemination of personal information of cellular subscribers of Azerfon. He is accused of violating the law on operational and investigative activities and abuse of office.
According to law enforcement officials, during the search in Ahmadli’s apartment legally prohibited religious books and CD disks were found as well as leaflets with speeches by Fethullah Gulen. On August 23, law enforcement authorities said the merger of Ahmadli’s case into one thing with the case of another activist of PFPA Faig Amirov, also accused of collaboration with the Gulen organization.
The PFPA rejected these accusations and called them fabricated for political reasons. -06D-
