Lawyer demands to justify Ilgar Mamedov (UPDATED)

This afternoon  Sheki Serious Crimes Court continued the trial in the Ismayilli events. Defendants called on residents of  Ismailly to  start a protest against an unfair trial. Ilgar Mamedov’s lawyer, Fuad Agayev , said the final word. The lawyer said that the court did not prove guilt  of Mamedov. According to him, preparation to arrest of  Mamedov was long, and deputies even collected signatures on a petition calling to bring him to justice. Ismayilly events served as a pretext to arrest of Mamedov.

During the trial, defense presented  a lot of exculpatory evidence - video , data, telephone calls , indicating that Mamedov was  in Ismailly just for  one hour - from 16:00 to 17:00, and at this time the city was calm.

At the same time, the court refused to view the surveillance  of cameras in the local branch of Unibank, which recorded calm the situation in the city , where  Mamedov was.

The trial will continue on  Tuesday.—06D--

Scheduled for today at 11.00, the hearing on Ismayilli events was postponed to 15.00.
At the trial should have been held concluding statements from the defendants' lawyers. However, because one of the lawyers did not arrive, the judge postponed the meeting.
Observers believe that the absence of the state lawyer is a deliberate ploy as representatives of the Western diplomatic corps, the Swedish Ambassador, the Deputy Ambassadors of the U.S. and the UK, EU missions and other diplomats came to the courthouse.
A week ago, the prosecutor offered to condemn the accused to jail terms of punishment from 4 to 9 years. Thereafter, the accused residents of Ismayilli started a hunger strike.
Today the accused Saftar Agamalyev told Turan that the action was stopped three days ago, after the unofficial information that the verdict will be for the "favorable" .
o 23-24 January 2013 Ismayilli riots took place and the reason for this was the boorish behavior of a group of people who are close relatives of the chief executive. This caused outrage and protests by locals who burned the hotel Chirag and then clashes between police and local residents, who demanded the resignation of the district leadership. -06/27D-
