Mines found in the Caspian Sea have been cleared
Baku/10.05.22/Turan: On May 10, six large ship mines (KB-1) were successfully defused in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. They were discovered on May 4 at a depth of 60 meters, the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
Demining was carried out by Navy ships in cooperation with specialists from other government agencies in compliance with security measures. In total, 4 warships, 4 boats and 133 military personnel were involved in mine clearance, the report says.
At present, all activities in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea continue as usual. The exact location of the discovery of these Soviet-made mines is not reported.
Recall that the mines were discovered during exploration work carried out by UMID BABEK OPERATING COMPANY on May 4 in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, at a depth of 60 m.
The mines were dropped into the water during the Soviet period without meeting mining standards.—03B06-
