Ministry for Emergency Situations (MES) Warns of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Because of the possibility of human poisoning by carbon monoxide, the MES has warned people to be careful as they use gas devices. Most incidents occur because safety regulations are not followed.

According to the MES, carbon monoxide poisoning often occurs due to malfunction of the chimney or gas water heaters. Carbon monoxide is formed by incomplete combustion of gas.

It has no smell or color; people do not feel poisoning.

To prevent poisoning, MES banned the installation in homes and apartments on-standard heaters, and encouraged checking and cleaning of chimneys.

In any emergency situation, call the hotline "112" MES.—16D06-
