Ministry of Environment and the Prosecutor's Office on Measures against Illegal Tree Felling
Baku / 05/18/19 / Turan: The facts of illegal cutting of trees in Baku, Lankaran and Guba are sent to the prosecutor's office. Criminal cases have been initiated on the facts, according to a joint report by the Ministry of Environment and the Prosecutor General"s Office.
During the investigation of the Office for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office, illegal cutting of 25 trees and shrubs was found on an area of 0.24 hectares between residential buildings 93 and 99 on M.Hadi Street in the Khatai district of Baku. A criminal case was initiated under Article 259.1 (illegal cutting of trees) of the Criminal Code.
The fact of cutting down 63 trees of various species in the forestry of Vizazamin of the Lankaran region is also established. A criminal case was initiated under Article 314.1 (negligence) and 259.1 (illegal felling of trees) of the Criminal Code.
According to the results of monitoring in the Guba district, a cutting of 4,408 trees of various species and diameters, and causing serious damage to nature, was revealed. A criminal case was initiated under Article 314.1 and 259.2.4 (illegal cutting of trees with major damage).
Measures are being taken to identify and prosecute the perpetrators in all three cases, as well as to compensate for the damage caused to the nature. -06D--

In a bid to modernize and regulate the taxi industry in Baku, mobile patrols of the state traffic police have launched a series of raids aimed at ensuring that taxi drivers comply with newly established requirements.
