Muslim Unity activist arrested for 15 days
Baku/12.06.20/Turan: An activist of the Muslim Unity Movement (MUM) Alik Aslanov was arrested for 15 days on charges of not subordinating to the police. This decision was made on June 10 by the Imishli District Court.
According to the MUM, Aslanov was detained on June 9 in Baku near the Narimanov metro station. He came there after a phone call from Imishli police officers who wished to meet with him.
Aslanov previously appealed to President Ilham Aliyev with a request to open mosques. Before the strict quarantine regime on June 6-7, he wrote on Facebook, “Say no to the ban on staying home on Saturday and Sunday, we demand that the police respect the people.”
The MUM believes that this was the real reason for the arrest Attempts to get comments from the Imishli police were futile. — 06D-
