NAR Interior Ministry Confirms Arrest of Local PFPA Activist
In the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) the head of the Julfa district organization of PFPA Hijran Gasimov detained on November 3 was criminally charged and remanded arrest for two months.
The arrest was confirmed only evening of November 7 after the media reported the disappearance of Gasimov. The family was called by a man who introduced himself as Gasimov’s lawyer and reported his arrest.
November 8 MIA NAR confirmed the arrest of Gasimov to his wife, but did not report what he was specifically charged with. MIA employees only vaguely said that Gasimov beat some two persons in their car and something was found with him. The representative of the Interior Ministry promised to provide detailed information in 15 days.
His relatives fear that during this time Gasimov could be extracted confessions by torture.
Our attempt to get comments in law enforcement of NAR failed. -06D--

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
