New anti-record - 10 deaths from COVID-19
Baku/09.07.20/Turan: 548 new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Azerbaijan, the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan said on Thursday.
Over the past day, 491 people recovered; 10 patients with COVID-19 died.
In total, 22,464 people were infected in Azerbaijan, of which 13,591 recovered, 284 died, 8589 were treated in special treatment hospitals, the same source reported.
Since the start of the pandemic, 544,735 tests have been conducted, including 7505 over the past 24 hours.
Today's death rate is the highest since the start of the pandemic per day. Previously, no more than nine people died on the day.
From June 24, the daily increase in cases of infections exceeds 500 and ranges between 508 and 590. –21B-

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. "Thanks to the urgent and necessary measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the spread of the fire to neighboring areas, including nearby residential buildings, has been prevented," the statement reads. Efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing.
